PERIODIC BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR SECOND ORDER FUNCTIONAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

This paper investigates the periodic boundary value problems for a class of second order functional differential equations. The monotone iterative technique and the maximum principle are applied to obtain the existence of maximal and minimal solutions.     

A polymer onium acting as phase-transfer catalyst in halogen-exchange fluorination promoted by microwave

A polymerized quaternary ammonium salt polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride, exhibiting high stability to heat and base, was prepared and applied as phase-transfer catalyst (PTC) in halogen-exchange (Halex) fluorination of chloronitrobenzenes to give excellent yields of corresponding fluoronitrobenzenes. Dimethyl sulfoxide was found to be the best solvent when microwave was applied as heating resource.     

Fracture mechanisms of Hg0.8Cd0.2Te induced by pulsed TEA-CO2 laser

The fracture mechanisms of Hg_0.8Cd_0.2Te induced by pulsed TEA-CO₂ laser have been investigated theoretically and experimentally in this paper. The Hg_0.8Cd_0.2Te target was irradiated by a TEA-CO₂ laser with wavelength of 10.6 μm and spike width of 240 ns in an ambient atmosphere. The evident cracks can be found on the surface of the target from the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) photos, indicating that the severe breaks happened during the experiment. Theoretical analysis has also been carried out and the results show that the fracture of Hg_0.8Cd_0.2Te is mainly induced by thermal stresses, although there are three forces (thermal stress, evaporation wave and laser-supported detonation (LSD) wave) exerted on the target surface during the process.     

The fabrication and characterization of poly(lactic acid) scaffolds for tissue engineering by improved solid–liquid phase separation

In this article a new technique was developed to fabricate scaffolds with a unique microstructure by solid–liquid separation in combination with particulate-leaching. Firstly, the effects of polymer concentration, quenching temperature on the porous morphology and the mechanical property of obtained scaffolds during solid–liquid separation have been investigated. Then, salt granules as porogen were introduced into the solid–liquid phase separation to produce the unique pore structure of the scaffold. The pore diameter of the scaffold could be controlled with the particulate size and the wall of pores possessed special microstructure, which enhanced the pore interconnectivity. The cell culture results confirmed that a good interconnectivity of the scaffold prepared by the improved solid–liquid separation was useful for nutrition transportation and cell proliferation. SURFACE METALLIZATION OF CENOSPHERES AND PRECIPITATORS BY ELECTROLESS PLATING

This paper reports the use of a colloidal Pd^0 catalysis system to metallize the surface of precipitators separated from coal fly-ash, and metals such as Cu, Ni etc. are deposited on the precipitators surface. Alternatively, according to the characteristic surface of cenospheres, an Ag coating catalysis system is adopted to first deposit Ag on the cenospheres surface, followed, if necessary, by the deposition of other metals such as Cu, Ni, etc. on the Ag coating to produce monolayer and multilayer metal-coated cenospheres. The surface characteristics and the morphologies of the metal coatings are examined in detail with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. It can be shown that the quality of metal coatings derived from the Aa coatina catalysis system, is better than that of the colloidal Pd^0 catalysis system.     

Electronic structures and ferroelectric properties of ABi2Ta2O9 (A=Ca, Sr, and Ba)

The electronic structures of ABi₂Ta₂O₉ (A=Ca, Sr, and Ba) were calculated by using first-principles under optimized structure. As the size of A-site cation decreases from that of Ba²⁺ to Ca²⁺, the band-gap between O 2p and Ta 5d increases from 2.0 to 2.9 eV, which responses to the stronger orbital hybridizations between Ta 5d and O 2p orbits favoring improvement of the ferroelectric property, decrease in leakage current, and increase in both spontaneous polarization and Curie temperature by the structural distortion. In contrast to CaBi₂Ta₂O₉ and SrBi₂Ta₂O₉, the hybridization between Ba 5p orbits and O 2p orbits in BaBi₂Ta₂O₉ has better structural stability.     

用遗传算法拟合电力系统负荷短期预测的非线性模型

本文运用遗传算法，根据河北省１９８５—１９９０年春节期间每小时用电量的统计数字，建立了非线性回归模型（Ｇｏｍｐｅｒｔｄｚ），结果表明，遗传算法性能良好，可望成为电力系统各种非线性模型辨识的有效手段。     

关于无界无限维商品空间上的生产经济均衡

本文研究了无界无限维商品空间上的生产经济均衡的存在性．虽然我们把商品空间看成是Ｒｉｅｓｚ空间，但并没有在它的正锥上作任何内部假设．同时我们的结果也为现代企业或公司从事经济预测、制订生产计划、改善经营管理、提高劳动生产率以及优化经济机制提供了理论依据．     

Chinese (Mainland) teachers’ views of effective mathematics teaching and learning

This study investigates Chinese teachers’ cultural beliefs concerning effective mathematics teaching through semi-structured interview with nine experienced teachers. For the Chinese teachers, an effective teacher should always be passionate and committed to the teaching profession. She should not only understand the knowledge in the textbook thoroughly but also be able to carefully craft the knowledge from the textbook for teaching by predicting possible students’ difficulties. Although Chinese teachers emphasize student participation and flexible teaching, they tend to see the teacher’s ability to design and lead coherent lessons as the key for facilitating students’ understanding. The result of this study helps researchers and educators understand the teacher-designed and content-oriented teaching model in Chinese classrooms.
